As a counsellor I am strongly guided by personal values of courage, compassion, authenticity and joy. Having trained in transpersonal counselling, my work includes aspects of both spirituality and psychology. In this context I see the challenges we all face in life as opportunities for growth within our own journey.
My approach also has a strong basis in family systems theory that holds that we are shaped by our own unique family system, meaning that how we operate in the world is a product of our system. As we look at the whole system as an emotional unit we begin to understand ourselves more fully. I also use techniques from gestalt therapy that focuses on what we are feeling in the present moment to identify solutions to a variety of struggles. This technique, through active expression of unresolved anger, anxieties, sadness and other feelings can bring awareness to how our own thought patterns, based on past experiences, affect us in the present moment.
My clients can expect to be heard with compassion in sessions and offered the opportunity for full emotional expression with care.
