Amy’s Office Hours
Amy O’Coin is a Registered Professional Counsellor Candidate with the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association (#4300) and a Certified Trauma Professional. Amy received her Professional Counsellor diploma from Rhodes Wellness College in Vancouver. She also has further training in Trauma healing and Somatic therapy.
When suffering emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress, Amy had feelings of being overwhelmed, emotionally drained, and unable to meet the daily demands of life. She realized she was suffering from burnout and chose the support of counselling as a tool to help positively shift her beliefs and values through burnout recovery. This experience prompted her career transition from the corporate world into the field of professional counselling.
Amy focuses on the unique and overall wellness of each individual client and takes a client centered holistic approach. She can help you achieve your desired life path while supporting you through challenges such as processing trauma, major life events, ending of a relationship, burn out and/or anxiety to name a few. Also, she can help you identify your strengths and re-authoring the stories, values or beliefs that no longer serve you.
Her cultural background of Indigenous and Irish descent has given her the valuable perspective of how culture, society and diversity, among many other factors, can influence the way we see ourselves and the world around us.
Each session is tailored to your needs or goals and is collaborative. The type of counselling Amy uses could include, but is not limited to, Trauma healing and processing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Somatic Therapy. Depending on the clients needs she may also use meditation or grounding techniques. With tools and support, Amy can help you overcome obstacles, realize your potential and achieve your goals.
