Jennifer Harder – Associate Counselor

Jenn Harder bioJennifer Harder is a Registered Professional Counsellor (RPC #3164) with the Canadian Professional Counsellors’ Association (CPCA). She holds a diploma in Transpersonal Psychology and has studied at both the University of Saskatchewan (Kinesiology), as well as Concordia University in Montreal.

Jenn has an inquisitive mind and an open heart. She uses her gifts of empathy and intuition to work with individuals as well as couples.  She helps people to fully embrace their struggle and obtain new information to grow and heal.  She also supports clients who are dealing with grief and loss.

Jenn’s journey into counselling came out of a relationship crisis and deep depression;  this was accompanied by the loss of her stepmother to a sudden and catastrophic brain aneurism. By embracing the pain of these circumstances  and in recognizing her own childhood trauma, she was propelled into self-growth, healing and awakening.

Her therapeutic approach uses Bowen’s Family Systems Theory, Neuroscience, Neuro-Linguisitc Programming (NLP), and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, as well as Gestalt and Transpersonal Perspectives.

Treatment Philosophy

I  believe that we are mind, body and spirit, and that when we experience deep pain and we are at our “edge” or “wall”, it is a calling for opening. As a counsellor, it is my job to be present in this scary place with you. A Course in Miracles states “We are never upset for the reason we think”…. meaning that there are always bigger things going on under our upset and that maybe we are not aware and/or we need someone to shine a light on those places. I counsel from this perspective.

I have also been a Flight Attendant and worked in Aviation for more than 15 years. The experiences I have had in this profession are immense, wonderful, amazing and scary. I have experienced trauma, and witnessed passenger trauma. These years have helped me understand persons with intense anxiety and fears about feeling out of control.

My goal is to help people in pain, dilemma or struggle to feel fully witnessed and gain new perspectives in order to heal and be able to live their fullest lives. I offer my clients a knowledgeable and safe environment to do this in.
